This section details the Plant Accessions from your chosen Collection (Wheat Resistance gene enrichment (REN) sequencing collection) that are maintained by the GRU.

Collection Details: The WatRenSeq collection comprises 299 wheat landraces from the Watkins collection (Wingen et al., 2014) which were selected to represent maximum genetic diversity. In addition, 21 non-Watkins lines were chosen for other strategic purposes, e.g. cv. Paragon (which is the parent of many Watkins RIL populations), cv Fielder (transformable line), etc. The lines were subjected to resistance gene enrichment sequencing (RenSeq; Jupe et al. 2013) using a bait library designed from Triticeae resistance gene analogs and immune receptors belonging principally to the nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat (NLR) class of genes and also including 275 genes conserved in grasses (Marcussen et al., 2014). The bait library was designed by Burkhard Steuernagel and Ksenia Krasileva, but has not yet been published. Self seed was obtained from the same plants that provided the DNA preps. The collection along with the RenSeq data can be used for studying wheat NLR diversity and identifying candidate resistance genes by association genetics (Arora et al., 2019).
